Balkır Demirkan, one of the important names in the insurance sector, who last served as Deputy Secretary General at the Insurance Association of Turkey, has been appointed Assistant General Manager in charge of Claims and Legal Affairs at Ray Sigorta.

He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Finance in 1997. He graduated from Yıldız Technical University with a master’s degree in Business Management (MBA).
Between 1998 and 2002, he worked as an Inspector at İktisat Bank, and then stepped into the Insurance sector with Axa Insurance in 2002, taking various positions in Internal Audit, Claims, Individual Technical and Technical Operations at AXA Insurance and serving as a member of the Extended Executive Committee. Between 2016 and 2022, he served as Assistant General Manager responsible for Technical, Claims, Reinsurance and Legal Affairs at Ethica Insurance.
Since 2009, he has served as a member and chairman of the TSB Accident Insurance Investigation and Research Committee, Direct Compensation Working Committee, Fraudulent Claims Working Committee, Bad Risks Pool Project, Individual Insurance Committee, SBM Reporting Committee and various subcommittees and working groups established within TSB. Between September 2022 and December 2024, Demirkan served as Deputy Secretary General at the Insurance Association of Turkey, and as of January 2025, he became Assistant General Manager of Claims and Legal Affairs at Ray Sigorta.
Mr. Demirkan currently gives trainings on accident insurance and pricing at TSEV, makes presentations as a guest speaker at Mimar Sinan University, and has articles on various topics related to insurance.
