BMS Group Strengthens Presence in Australia with New Acquisition

The independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, BMS Group, continues its global expansion by acquiring Queensland-based Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers. Originally established in 2006, this firm has built a reputation as a leading property broker, offering comprehensive risk management advice and insurance broking services to large, privately-owned enterprises.

Under the acquisition agreement, Jeremy Murfin, the Founder and Director of Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers, will transition into the role of Client Director for BMS Australia. He will report to Stephen Moore, Managing Director of BMS Risk Solutions QLD, in Brisbane. Additionally, Murfin will join the Australian Executive Leadership Team.

This acquisition marks a continuation of BMS Group’s vigorous international mergers and acquisitions activity. Earlier this year, the group completed the acquisition of the Spanish broker Rasher and its subsidiaries in Latin America, as well as purchasing Istanbul-based Oria Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği A.Ş. and UAE broker Berms Brett Masaood (now known as BMS Masaood) in 2024.

Andrew Godden, CEO of BMS Australia, commented, “Jeremy has been a partner of BMS for over 20 years, so we are thrilled he has now decided to join us. With his extensive expertise in the specialist property sector and exceptional skills in risk management and advisory, he has developed an outstanding business on Australia’s east coast. Now as part of the BMS team, we look forward to collaborating with him to create specialized solutions for our clients.”

Murfin expressed his enthusiasm, “Our business has thrived on close engagement and dynamic responses to client needs. We needed a partner that could offer the same level of service while providing additional resources for growth and specialization. The cultural alignment and resources within BMS made the decision to join them easy. This move will enhance our client offerings in the future.”
