Appointment of Iris Urban as Chief Underwriting Officer at NewRe

NewRe, a prominent player in the property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance sector and a vital part of the Munich Re Group, has made a significant announcement regarding its leadership. Iris Urban has been appointed as the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for its non-life business, with her new role set to commence on March 1, 2025.

In her capacity as CUO, Urban will be responsible for formulating and implementing underwriting strategies and overseeing management practices. Her focus will be on optimizing the portfolio to foster sustainable growth and enhance profitability across NewRe’s P&C operations.

Urban brings with her an impressive track record, having dedicated 25 years to various senior underwriting roles at Munich Re. Her extensive experience spans multiple regions, including Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Most recently, she held the position of Chief Underwriting Officer for Munich Re’s German P&C market, where she honed her expertise in the industry.
