Munich Re Appoints Hanh Nguyen as New Head of Treaty P&C Underwriting for Southeast Asia and India
Global reinsurance leader Munich Re has announced the appointment of Hanh Nguyen as the new Head of Treaty Property and Casualty (P&C) Underwriting for Southeast Asia (SEA) and India. This pivotal role will commence on March 1, 2025. Hanh will be succeeding Joachim Zagrosek, who has been appointed as the Head of P&C Treaty Underwriting for Germany, operating out of Munich.
Hanh Nguyen brings with her an impressive 19 years of experience in the reinsurance industry, having worked across various markets in Asia. She initially joined Munich Re as the Regional Property Treaty Manager within the Southeast Asian and Japan Regional Underwriting team. Since July 2024, she has been serving as the Deputy Head of Treaty P&C Underwriting for SEA and India, a role that has equipped her with valuable insights and expertise.
In her own words, Hanh Nguyen expressed her enthusiasm regarding this new responsibility: “It is a great privilege to take on the responsibility for Munich Re’s Treaty P&C underwriting in South-East Asia and India. Underwriting discipline will remain crucial for the markets. Events such as Hurricane Yagi remind us of how exposed the region is to natural disasters.”
Hanh emphasized the importance of increasing insurance penetration in the region, stating, “We strive to increase insurance penetration in the region by fostering risk mitigation measures, working with governments and international institutions, and by bringing innovative solutions to the markets.”
