Rokstone Group Ltd., a specialty managing general agent and a member of Aventum Group Ltd., has announced an exciting development in the insurance sector with the launch of a new direct-to-retail excess and surplus lines managing general agent (MGA) in the United States. This new venture, named Rokstone Commercial Risks, is strategically located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The MGA is set to provide extensive, casualty-focused underwriting services, backed by capacity from A-rated Lloyd’s syndicates, all on a multiyear nonadmitted basis. This initiative is spearheaded by John Larkins, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as senior vice president and head of general liability at Hudson Insurance Group, and is based in Richmond, Virginia.
Rokstone Commercial Risks aims to deliver direct access to excess and surplus (E&S) products tailored for small to mid-sized commercial risks. Coverage offerings will include general liability, liquor liability, excess liability, and property coverages.
To strengthen its team, Rokstone has successfully recruited Pepper Sleight from Scottsdale, Arizona, who previously served as Hudson’s head of general liability binding and programs, taking on the role of senior vice president of underwriting. Additionally, Scott Powell, based in Crystal River, Florida, has joined as vice president of underwriting.
The new division is ambitious, with plans to achieve an annual premium volume of $150 million by its fifth year of operation. This strategic move underscores Rokstone’s commitment to enhancing its footprint in the U.S. insurance market.
