Ryan Specialty, a leading global specialty insurance firm, has made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of its leadership team. The company has appointed Mark Engel as the new Chief Executive Officer of Marine & Energy within its specialty underwriting segment, Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM).
In his new role, Engel will be responsible for overseeing the operations, growth strategy, and overall positioning of the Marine & Energy practice. He will be headquartered in New York City, where he will manage a team of seven managing general underwriters (MGUs) dedicated to Energy and Marine sectors.
Engel brings a wealth of experience to RSUM, having established a robust career in insurance with a focus on underwriting and broking across various markets including London, the United States, and international arenas. Prior to joining RSUM, he held a prominent position at RB Jones, where he dedicated the last five years of his career, culminating in the role of Senior Vice President and Managing Director.
Before his tenure at RB Jones, Engel served as the Niche President for Marine and Energy at ProSight Specialty Insurance. His extensive experience also includes an eight-year stint at AIG, where he held senior roles in the Marine division, and six years at Marsh.
