New Opportunities for Youth from Vodafone

Continuing its efforts to lead Turkey’s digitalization, Vodafone is taking a new step to attract young talents who will shape the technologies of the future. New applications for Vodafone’s Discover Young Talent Program, which has been implemented since 2008, have started on LinkedIn and the Vodafone Careers website. Applications will remain open until the end of March. This year, approximately 50 young individuals will have the opportunity to work full-time in Vodafone Turkey’s commercial, technology, and corporate departments through the program. To date, more than 800 young people have been employed through this program, which receives thousands of applications every year.

Vodafone Turkey Executive Committee Vice President Nazlı Tlabar Güler expressed her thoughts on young talents as follows: “It is of great importance for us to discover and include the young individuals we see as the leaders of the future at Vodafone. We carry out our new graduate recruitments through the Discover Young Talent Program, which Vodafone implements globally in all its countries. Thanks to this program, which we started 18 years ago with 3 people, we bring young individuals with high potential to Vodafone, allowing them to benefit from both local and global career opportunities, and we support them with training and development programs. With an ever-growing momentum contributing to employment, we have integrated more than 800 young people into our organization through this program. Many of our colleagues who started their careers as Discover participants are now part of our Vodafone Leadership Team. We invite all young individuals to apply for the new term of our program.”

Innovative Assessment Processes

With the application of technology and gaming together, the Vodafone Discover Young Talent Program will benefit from a “gamification” approach in both the online preliminary assessment and the face-to-face second assessment processes this year. As part of the face-to-face assessment process, group interviews will be conducted using virtual reality goggles.

Past Achievements and Employment Rate

52 young individuals were accepted last year. Last year, 52 young individuals from 21 different universities were accepted into the Discover Young Talent Program, which received applications from over 10,000 young people all over Turkey. Women made up 65% of the participants in the program.

Global Application and Opportunities

The Discover Young Talent Program, which is implemented in all Vodafone countries, is a career program specially designed for final-year university students, recent graduates, and those with at most one year of full-time work experience. In this global program applied in all Vodafone countries, candidates go through the same standard recruitment processes. A comprehensive training and development program is applied for the young talents who join Vodafone. Young individuals have the chance to get to know the technology and telecommunications sector more closely by rotating through different departments during their first year. Additionally, they have the opportunity to evaluate different local and global opportunities through job postings within Vodafone.

They Work in Various Departments

They work across all units. Young Discover participants are placed in almost all functions of the company to reflect their perspectives and dynamism across the organization. In this regard, full-time working opportunities are offered in various fields such as sales, marketing, technology, finance, and human resources. Discover participants are especially included in digital roles and teams that create new business lines.

Different Opportunities for Development

Many different opportunities are offered for their development. Young individuals who join Vodafone through the Discover Young Talent Program are included in a comprehensive training and development program. Both online and face-to-face training sessions carefully track the technical and competency-based development of the young talents. They gain access to the most up-to-date information by utilizing global digital resources such as MIT, Harvard Business Publishing, and Skillsoft. Young people are also supported with mentorship and project-based development opportunities.
